70# Wahoo

Angler was Al Porter, first time fishing for tuna or wahoo, He rented all
his equipment from the boat, I let him throw my set-up that morning while I
ate breakfast.

Al is a fishing guide from the Yukon! Loved the reel and was amazed at the
power of the fish! He told me something I will never forget " these fish if
you tied them tail to tail with a Salmon , the Salmon would drown in 20
yards"

On The Yig - Ala Bill Roecker Oceanic Videos Current Condtions

Mark Pisano brought his Independence home to Pt. Loma Sportfishing November 10 after an eight-day trip with 29 anglers aboard.

Their story was much the same as others recently. The fishing was good, and the catch was mixed species, typical for fall eight and ten-day trips. Jim Kostelecky of Pasadena won first place for his 79.8-pound yellowfin tuna. He said it bit on his chrome Salas 6X Jr. jig tied to 40-pound Big Game line and 80-pound Izorline spectra. He fished with an Avet JX reel and a Seeker 875 rod. Tom Kroes of Tipton won second place for a 54.8-pound tuna, and posed the Jim.Terry Watkins of San Diego won third place for a 48-pound dorado, but failed to appear for the jackpot shot.

Today we missed on the tuna, but found a nice area holding lots of different grade yellows.
We ended up catching yellowtail that weighed anywhere from 6-50lbs and Bill Cashman was very happy with his 35lb fish caught on a Salas 6xjr.

Takers on the Broadbill

kingsmill

First blood on the boom- Took Dan Loros, who built the beautiful custom tank in my transom, out for some local sea bass fishing to try to get him his first fish. Todd P. (Newport Bait Barge) texted me that they had a load of mini squids in the receiver, so I decided to give it a try. Fished a few hours Saturday morning, Dan caught one big black and then later lost a nice white. Went in early to recoop and pick up the old man (WB). Got set up early eve and just before dark Dan's got one on. A 59.4# hits the deck. Nice job Dan. Sat it out and got one more bite, a 57.5#. Thanks for the text Todd, those mini baits did the job. That tank had 1000+ one to three inch squids and not a single clog in 36 hours. Awesome tank Dan, if anyone needs custom work on there rig, Dan does beautiful work (check out photo) The thing is too nice for the boat!
